#Lore24 Monthly Prompt Ideas

#Lore24 is a daily challenge I picked up on Mastodon that encourages participants to generate a piece of lore content every day, be this for their homebrew game world, for their novel world, or simply custom items chosen at random. There are no rules for how your #Lore24 entries should be created, in what order, or how much you should write. That sort of thing is entirely up to you!
Unlike #Dungeon23, which required participants to draw or otherwise depict dungeons and their contents in some manner, #Lore24 doesn't require quite as much time investment, as everything is done simply using words. As you can write as much or as little as you like, it can be easily written on social media using a mobile phone during lunch breaks!

For me, I like to have themes to work by, so I decided to create my own monthly themes to give my #Lore24 pieces some direction. As #Lore24 begins tomorrow, it seems apt to make my last blog post of 2023 related to that, and I thought I would share my theme choices with you.
Aely's #Lore24 Monthly Prompts
January - Gods and Spirits
February - Celebrations and the Calendar
March - Non-Magical Beasts
April - Artefacts and Legends
May - Magical Creatures
June - Society
July - Callings, Classes and Paths
August - Places of Interest
September - People of Interest
October - Monsters and Monstrous Beings
November - The Planes of Existence
December - Magic and Magical Theory

These are just a few of the ideas I had, so if you'd like to use them yourselves, feel free to do so! If something doesn't fit with the world you are building, simply replace it with a theme that does! I will personally be writing and sharing lore related to my created world, A'arde, as a way to further develop the setting and give me some inspiration for my novels and games. My intention is to create a post of the collected lore snippets every seven days and publish a round-up here on the website, so make sure to check back every so often to see what I've been writing! I also plan to give a fuller explanation of the themes I have chosen in a later post, just in case any of them seem ambiguous due to them being styled around my A'arde project!
So, there you have it. My prompts for #Lore24!
Follow me on Mastodon to see my daily posts on #Lore24 throughout 2024 (you can bookmark the page and return without a Mastodon account if you prefer, though following means you won't miss a single post), or visit my other socials/pages for reminders and spotlights on when round-ups are published. If you are taking part in #Lore24, let me know and we can connect!
